How Much Does Paint Protection Cost & Is It Worth It?

Your vehicle’s paint is constantly under attack—from gravel on the highway and harsh weather to bird droppings and harmful UV rays. If you want to keep that showroom shine and protect your investment, paint protection is key. But with options like Paint Protection Film (PPF) and ceramic coating available, it can be tough to decide what’s right for your car—and your budget.

Let’s walk through what each type of paint protection offers and answer the ultimate question: How much does paint protection cost, and is it worth it?

Paint Protection Film & Clear Bra

Paint Protection Film (PPF), also known as a clear bra, is a transparent, durable film that’s applied to the painted surfaces of your vehicle. Think of it as an invisible barrier that shields your car from physical damage. It is specifically designed to protect your paint from everyday wear and tear like scratches, chips, and UV damage.

How much does paint protection film cost?

PPF pricing can range widely—from around $600 to as much as $8,000. This broad range is due to several key factors that influence the final cost, including:

  • Size of Vehicle: The larger the vehicle, the more film and labor it will take to install.
  • Package Type or Coverage Level: This usually refers to how much of your vehicle you want covered and where you want the film. For example, at Premier, our basic PPF package covers the hood (partial), fenders (partial), and mirrors and costs $529. However, our ultimate package covers the hood (full), fenders (full), front bumper, and mirrors and costs $2,099.
  • Type of Film: There are a variety of PPF options available with a range of clarity, self-healing capabilities, and warranties. The higher quality the film, the higher your price will end up being.
  • Add-Ons: In addition to the usual PPF packages, you can pay for extra coverage in less visible areas like rocker panels, door cups or guards, and trunks.

Ceramic Coating

Another popular form of paint protection is a ceramic coating. This coating is done with a liquid polymer that’s applied by hand to your car’s paint. Once cured, it uses nanotechnology to form a chemical bond with the surface and creates a hard, hydrophobic (water-repellent) layer.

How much does a ceramic coating cost?

While the average cost for a ceramic coating is between $500-$3,000, the price again varies depending on a number of factors—specifically vehicle size and coating durability level. These coatings are often labeled by how long you want the coating to last. At Premier, we offer one, three, and seven year coatings.

The longer-lasting you want and the larger your vehicle, the more expensive it will be. For example, our one-year coating for a small vehicle (Corvette, Mazda Miata, etc.) is $599 while a seven-year coating for a large vehicle (Buick Enclave, Ford F-150, etc.) is $2099.

DIY vs Professionally Applied Paint Protection

When it comes to the question of cost, DIY paint protection options like at-home PPF kits and ceramic coatings can seem appealing due to their lower upfront cost. However, they often fall short in quality, durability, and performance. These products typically lack the long-lasting protection and advanced features of professional-grade materials—and improper application can lead to bubbles, streaks, or even paint damage that’s expensive to fix.

In contrast, professional installation ensures high-quality results, better longevity, and the added security of a warranty, making it a smarter long-term investment for most vehicle owners.

Is paint protection worth it?

If you want to keep your car looking new, paint protection is one of the smartest investments you can make—especially if you plan to keep your vehicle for several years or care about resale value.

Paint protection isn’t just for luxury cars or car showrooms—it’s for anyone who wants to extend the life and beauty of their vehicle. Whether you choose PPF or ceramic coating, you’re investing in your car’s long-term condition and value.

* There will be an additional charge of $50 for Iron Decontamination. If your vehicle has tar, overspray, or road paint on it, we will provide a custom quote for removal.

* Headliners are extremely delicate. Excessive cleaning and wetting of the headliner can cause it to fail, so excessive soiling may not be able to be removed.

* Removing stains is an intricate service, and while we always try to do everything possible to remove stains, we cannot guarantee full stain removal. In the event a stain cannot be fully removed, we will try to attenuate it as much as possible.

Why is ceramic coating the most elite paint protection product on the market?

Premier ceramic coating offers nano-ceramic compounds that provide the maximum level of slickness, protection, and durability.

A normal clear coat has hardness between 2H and 4H. However, ceramic coatings have a hardness above 9H. This shield is the hardest paint coating on the market today and prevents minor scratches to your clearcoat and acts as a sacrificial layer.

Think of ceramic coatings as an additional clear coat layer, only a lot harder. All of this allows for more peace of mind and a fuller enjoyment of your vehicle, even in harsh environments.
